Most of y'all saying the MC dumb but from the way i see it its the father!!!!why cant he just smile and tell her straightforward that he love her n care about her???in the novel why did he leave her without at least telling her that he is coming back to save her like imagine how disappointed she felt when he left her in prison alone :(((

This is real human ..not a good one fs but a real one .. she isn't evil tho , I think she just have to go through some tough things(like being locked in the basement )to learn from the experience and do better

Same, I didn't like that she abandoned her kids and was so selfish and jealous at first. But her character fits her role in the story perfectly and she has the spite and spine to actually have a chance to get out of that family. It's nice to see a flawed FL who isn't an innocent nice girl.
