I really hate that the evil group in this manga is given the same name and traditional clothes as the real Roma people who face real discrimination and threat to life in real life. They've survived multiple genocides and even most of the population was targeted and killed in the actual Holocaust and it's gross to encourage prejudice against real people.
Why couldn't the author have made up a fictional group of people to be the evil sorcerers? Also the story's evil actions are mostly just long standing racist stereotypes and conspiracy theories about Roma people. It's so racist. Imagine if a story had the evil AfrikaAmerices who do fried chicken curses is basically how thinly veiled this racist caricature of real people is- that would be disgusting and so is this.
The rest of the story is lovely, it's always so jarring to go back to real life racism in the plot.
Totally agree with you, I came here due to a video critizing the racism of it on youtube : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMvV2Pdb9eU&t=537s
I'm glad someone else is speaking about this too. Things like this encourage violence against real humans, and one comic might not seem like it makes such a big impact but after centuries of stories like this it sunshines makes people view every one as being villainous & evil like that are shown in these stories and that creates a cultural norm where it's treated as normal and not a problem to hurt real Roma people for the crime of being born basically
You were onto something them you mentioned “AfrikaAmerices” and talked about stereotypes….The author and artist are Asian so why even create a whole weird plot about Black people who have nothing to do with this ??? I will never understand why people can’t talk about racism without dragging along another group of people in on it

The pages of each chapter seem to be uploaded out of order so you just kind of have to guess what the actual order of events are
