i realized this reminded me of dr stone and specifically senku lol, this is like senku if his main focus was civil engineering instead of science broadly. they both bring new inventions that both benefit themselves AND benefits others along the way.
exactly lmfaoooo even though when i wanted to start this, i saw someone say he was a capitalist that isn't kind, which is true that he's a capitalist to an extent, but somewhere in him is a normal, kind person. it's just you can tell his greed is a natural response from his original self who worked selflessly trying to pay of debt from his past life. he does genuinely help others and we see him cry for others.
reminds me of how many people see senku as some stoic guy, but he does actions that benefit himself AND protect others in the process
ngl kinda impressed they made actual dialogue in different languages since usually if a character speaks more than one language, they won't actually be shown to use them on screen. besides that, they don't look like bad people, so this only makes me more curious of why suo left for bofurin and why he's back now of all times
didnt think i was gonna cry, but man, she knows how to make me cry. i think it's cute to see their kids live on and man this author has a real knack for writing narcissistic parents who cause their kids trouble
also i still don't forgive akito for anything, but i did like seeing that she actually changed and gave her child shiki a lot of love. it also made a lot of sense and was great that her atonement of a life time of abuse to the other zodiacs was to be a part from them. that's why shiki feels bad, but the reality is, she was his loving mother, but she was also the source of a pain and torture for the rest of them.
i like that the lesson with shiki and mitoma is that children are not responsible for the actions of the adults around them. they do no bear their burdens
came back here because i'm rewatching the 2019 remake and wow, how much i love this series. also here to re-bookmark as my old bookmarks are from previous sites that no longer exist lol
man i love this series. i hate that people who don't watch this assume that it's just a normal romance. man watching the anime, 7 ep in and they're already retelling to you the horrible cycle of abuse they go through.
this has been one of my all time favorite animanga series because while you can tell it's dated from the art style and the jokes, one of the most timeless parts of the series is the message. it's a story about perseverance, hope, and truly unconditional love.
one of my favorite moments is still the day we found out about momiji's mom. i'm a little blurry on the manga [because honestly i just love to keep revisiting to see my fav moments later on in the series], but in the original dub of the 2001 anime adaption, i love the way they phrased the words. Momiji tells us that carrying all of these memories, good or painful, they're really heavy. But one day, if we keep carrying them, someday we'll be strong enough to continue like they weigh nothing. He doesn't want to forget any of his memories even when they're painful.
it's moments like that, that make me love fruits basket even despite the flaws [aka the pedos]. it's a series that is full to brim about what it means to be human, what it means to love others, and above all, be kind to yourself.
fruits basket is one of the most painful series that I love and it holds such a dear place in my heart. when nonreaders or nonwatchers ask me what it is about, I find myself struggling to put it into words because fruits basket can't be dumbed down. i can only explain it when talking about specific characters and their stories. they are all trapped in a cycle of generational abuse that they can't seem to escape from, until Tohru, an outsider, forces them to look at their reality and how unsustainable it is. How fucked up their lives are.
yknow with new manhwas getting animated, i really want to see this be animated. cute family aside, i think one of the best parts of this manhwa is how the backgrounds are drawn and how the aliens are SO diverse. it looks like an alien society and the whimsical background are breathtaking even though they're stationary.
thats why i would love to see this animated and i think the history of the aliens/humans is also so interesting to watch too. praying for an anime adaption !!!!

clearly we are dealing with chaotic bisexual fantasy genghis khan lmfaooo
