Like tbh they're going through a rough patch where Taichi is pretty much overthinking how their relationship will end up affecting Naoto's life coz of how his own mother reacted negatively to it. I think Naoto doesn't see it that way and would just like to talk it out but Taichi just really doesn't want to 'ruin' Nao's life esp in a fairly homophobic society.
