you're not understanding it from HER PERSPECTIVE. we get to see HIM CHANGE. SHE DOESN'T. it is not easy to see even her own son "change" just cause "he looks happier", bcs if u recount back, he was all sassy and stubborn to her when she visited. She tried teaching him to lead a good path in life but he's so stubborn and is always causing trouble for her. HE NEVER UPDATES HER ON ANYTHING, so how wld she know??? "oh my son looks happier" HOW?WHERE? he's STILL sassying and arguing with her, in her eyes he's still rebellious and the same. It is hard to change your impression on someone especially when u watched them grow up, yes they may change for worse or better but you'll never know. what I'm trying to say is PERSPECTIVE IS IMPORTANT. WE get to see ALL SIDES. THEY DON'T. obviously she's not the greenest flag mum or what but she's literally still taking care of her son. she lets him work in the restaurant to earn money. whenever he needed, he cld stay at their house. There's always a home and job for him. Best part is they still HEAVILY care about him. Yeah she has her own issues, but everyone does. Her words are not the best but ml's parents is his "home" that he can always run back to.
most important part to understand what I'm saying is that you have to be grateful for the little things in life that you have. Sometimes when life is so bad, you wld realise that even the smallest things in life could boost your mood for the day.
