So glad I had parents that didn't care about my grades being perfect. I was uptight about them but they would just be like chill it doesn't mean the world is ending. They were happy I got good marks but it didn't matter if I did. All parents should be like that. Also, after I got to college it slowly went from 'I need to get an A' to 'I need to pass' the more classes I took. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Seriously? For me, it was to the point I couldn't breathe. "You should be a doctor?" "Why aren't you a lawyer yet?" "You're not studying?" Like, dude, I never liked studying. And when I got anything lower than an A+, I always felt depressed and like a let down and I never told my parents. In class, everyone thought I was the smart one, but my parents taught me that I was never good enough. I always got mad when someone called me smart or whatever because I thought I was the dumbest person alive.
Sorry, just had to rant. ( ̄へ ̄)
(RANT): Ah, I know fam asian parents are the worst. I remember when I failed my exams in med school and just wanted to be done with it, (Didn’t really like to be a doctor but it was the parents’ dream and all so I just go with the flow) so when I failed for the first time I just wanted to chill but parents bombarded me with nagging and guilt trip that I got back on my gear and said ‘eff my emotion. Go back to studying’ . And now they are asking why am I an unfeeling b*tch, like dude you made me apathetic by canceling my emotions because it has no place in my time sched of studying. Sorry, end of rant ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄
Sending virtual hug to you.I hope it gets better for you.Actually for me my mom used to compare me to my best friend but because I wasn't trying my hardest. She shouldn't have done that I told her,she knows, she apologized. But even worse was that all my classmates through out middle and high school compared me with the same best friend,to the point that they'd look down on me even if my grades were higher then her.It became toxic but not between my friend and i.And my classmates were dicks cause when they'd try to diss me I'd just fuckin end them right then and there,so them "bullying me through my grades" is something that I'll never forgive myself for letting it happen to me.We protect, respect and cherish ourselves FIRST.
When u wonder why everyone’s a dicc
Sometimes it's really hard to understand cultural differences. In the U.S. in university there's no way of knowing the rank of people in your classes unless you ask, so you can't and don't have to greet others higher than you or the teacher. You don't have to socialize in order for people to work with you or like you. I didn't know most of the people in the same Major as myself. Social drinking wasn't something normal or required to get to know people/accomplish things. LGBT+ isn't something rare and I've seen plenty of public interactions and none of the friends I have that fit themselves in that category have had any major problem aside from a few stares, but you can get those regardless. It seems like it's a lot harder to live your life your way in other places and that's not okay to me.
I agree with you in a lot of points, but just be careful to not think that your culture is better than different cultures. Like, the part tolerance with LGBT+ community is a must, but a lot of other aspects of asian cultures are just different than yours, that doesn't mean they are wrong (ike the social drinking etc)
I definitely don't think mine is better. It could very much be improved.
In many asian countries, LGBTQ are still considered as taboo, disgusting, despicable, disease, etc.
True. It kinda breaks my heart knowing that.
Agreed. I saw a news in Brunei that enforces a law that allows people to stone lgbt people
Its disgusting, vile and inhumane coming from their islamic culture, the sharia law.
