i've read so many questions about this and some people's answers are so questionable LMAO.
being a woman and reading bl is not fetishization; fetishization is something that CAN STEM from being a bl reader, but that's not inherently the case with bl readers. to explain it simply, fetishization of bl is confusing fiction with reality, which is present on this website where in comment sections of shoujo manga you'll see "ugh i wish this was a bl, "or you'll see questions where people will ask "has anyone else made ff's or shipped two guys together in your classes?" another prime example is the manga "fucked by my best friend" which is a gender-bend story and there is more straight sex than gay sex and people were complaining that there was more peen-in-vagina then peen-in-butthole, like shut up lol. those are examples of what fetishizing gay couples can entail too.
now, please stop comparing bl couples to straight couples seen in shoujo, they literally can't be compared. i don't know if any of you have read a realistic bl manga, but even in some stories japans homophobia is apparent like gay people can't even legally be married out there. you can't fetishize straight porn, straight porn is the "norm" when gay people barely pass the "norm."
also, if your a straight woman and you get off to bl i highly suggest you get some help. that can cause issues for you in your personal sex life and that is also a form of fetishization. like, if you can only get off to two guys fucking, what the hell are you gonna do when you wanna have real-life sex?

I agree mostly but I want to point out something. Getting off to Yaoi is not unnatural for straight women, it's two guys(the sex straight women are attracted to) doing sexual things so it's pretty natural for straight or bi women to enjoy it. However if this is the only way they can get off, then it's a problem and can cause issues for their sex life. Same with every other fantasy, it's not bad as long as it doesn't take over real life. As humans we have a lot of weird sexual fantasies but we shouldn't 1. Repeat the same fantasy so many times that it becomes our only gateway to satisfaction. And 2. Try out a lot of those fantasies in real life. Some things should stay in the mind and never take a real life form because they will hurt others and ourselves.
