I'm a scanlator too, and I just gotta say, I never ONCE saw his releases missing the credits pages. In fact, it'd be more of a hassle to remove them, right? I don't understand his feelings at all - people who scanlate manga do it to spread the love, don't they? I do anyways. If he was really worried about getting in trouble with the publishers, WHYYY did he plaster his name on every single page and make everyone go to his personal site to read it? I do honestly think he was on a massive ego trip, and he's created so much drama within the fandom that is so unnecessary and really ugly. He caused a person on tumblr to receive a BUNCH of anon hate messages because she reposted a mangacap from facebook that had apparently had his watermark edited out. He took down the whole chapter in a huff. First of all, even if it's his scans, they are NOT his property. He put them online, and he gets mad because someone makes an edit with them? It was ONE picture, like 1/3 of a page that they tried to pretty up a little by removing the massive "PROPERTY OF DALETOS" over the top of it. Secondly, even if he DID have a leg to stand on in regards to it being his property, the polite thing to do would have been to send her a message, because she didn't intend to piss him off, she just saw a picture and posted it. But no, he called her out, saying "thanks to [whatever her tumblr name was] for being such a douchebag, I'm taking the chapter down and it'll only be available to friends until I FEEL like putting it back up." He's an asshole, he's a bad fan. Good riddance >.> He's not a deity.
I'm also part of a scanlation team and we also do it to spread the love. I don't know anything about Itsdaletos or the drama that's playing out here, only what I'm reading so far. I've noticed a couple of scanlators coming to mangago to post their unhappiness about having their scanlations show up here. We know it will get out if you share with anyone other than close personal friends. All we ask is that our work not be shared until after a number days has passed and our site not be revealed. When someone doesn't follow the rules we deal with it at our site because we know whoever did it is there. We don't come here and create unnecessary drama.
Scanlators are only human who can have good or bad personalities. Again I don't know Itsdaletos but it seems to me if you tell everyone they can only read at your site you're virtually inviting the whole world to come into your house. You don't know these people, so you shouldn't be surprised if one person take advantage and rob you.
I prefer to read manga here because it's like browsing through a great library and it's easy to find anything. Yes this place makes money off of scanlations but any of us who scanlate or come here to read scanlations aren't any better. There are no shades of grey tbh.
Serioulsy girl/dude you literally put my thoughts into words. i mean im so grateful he did all this work thats nice but what the point if it isnt to share it... Dont get me wrong i do not understand people who posted his works without permission... But he is being such an ass about it i never saw a guy who is so self centered he is like im gonna do it only for my circle... I dont even understand that why you even work you ass out for few people.... He is being a drama queen.... Period
Yeah. Tbh, it lasted TWO WHOLE MONTHS without getting uploaded anywhere, which is really REALLY impressive when you think of how popular Sekaiichi is. I mean he released it at the beginning of January as far as I remember. Plus, just because it got uploaded, it doesn't necessarily mean that it was a fan of the series, so it feels extremely unfair that he's punishing the readers as if they're all naughty children who didn't do as he told them. It's really condescending, and as an adult woman, if someone spoke to me like that irl I would be pissed off. I remember him making a post months ago about how he was the "last person willing to do this for you all, so don't ruin it!" Like... that is so manipulative, and incorrect.
Haha I didn't even know that! You would think he would know better and be in awe it wasn't uploaded for that long! No one should punish all fans for trouble caused by one or two. All they want to do is happily enjoy manga.
I could not agree, if he never wanted "his work" spread around then don't post them, he's such an ass like nobody asked you to translate you did out of your own kindness. hopefully someone can translate we all came too far only to be left behind, the English books is up to volume 4 who knows how long it'll take to reach volume 9?
This post is gold. I actually spoke to the person he cyberbullied and everything was just unfair. His followers also were blinded just because he won't be scanlating anymore and sent hate mail to the person. Seriously, he seems to be scanlating to gain followers instead of spreading the love for the manga. It was also very egoistic of him to post "Property of *insert name*" when he wasn't even the mangaka.
The person he cyberbullied handled it with such grace, I was impressed! I think a lot of readers of Sekaiichi and Junjou are either young, or don't read much BL and know next to nothing about how scanlation works, so he's able to big it up to be something that only HE is able to do, and that's really ridiculous. Ofc no one else was working on it when he was, it will most definitely be picked back up.
I agree with you. The young readers are easily influenced nowadays and tend to back him up without seeing the big picture. He is the first person I've encountered who blew it up this way. I also admired how the person coolly shooked it off. It is apparent that all this drama happened due to immaturity. Yeah, it will not be long before this will be picked up like all the popular mangas I've read in the past. Hopefully, the younger readers will use their heads and open their eyes to see the truth.
I think that you have posted one of the most insightful opinions about this. With SiH, it really doesn't matter because it's licensed in English and I can wait for the tankobon. He should not have dropped another scanlator's name in order to make his point. She made her point on her blog, plus that work is licensed in English too.
I appreciate what you scanlators do. I feel we should respect every scanlators wishes too. If you could pick up SIH and JR to still spread the love that would be amazing and much appreciated.
thanks to the way you are, somehow I can understand the scanlator and why they get mad or upset. But they should also know, not every fan of this manga or another manga know their website or know how to search in google and find the right web to read the new chapter, I'm one of those people how really bad to search and find the scanlation for the manga I read, I know only manga website like mangago/mangafox etc. because of this, I always wait, even if I wait for a long time, until the chapter are available i mangago, so I think the scanlation should understand fans feeling and be happy at there people glad for their hard work even if we read it in another place than their website

The magazine that it's released in is all seinen. I wonder if it's been categorised as shounen-ai just because Hideyoshico is primarily a BL mangaka?
If you've read any other manga by Hideyoshico, I don't think you guys would think she was going to have the horse turn into a person... That's pretty weird, and kind of a strange kink for her. I'd be super surprised if that's what happens.
I think it is probable that the manga has been categorized as shounen-ai by error, because the mangaka mainly writes BL. Plus, sometimes the categories they put here are wrong, so it may not be shounen-ai but just seinen, or it may even be shoujo (with that girl Touma-chan)
If the horse really turns into a person... if Akira falls in love with the horse in his human form, not as an animal, and kisses the human Romeo, it wouldn't be too hinky. I mean, it could be a human who was cursed, like the tale of the princess and the frog.
Plus, Hideyoshico has done a lot of stories with "weird" things, like a guy falling in love with his crazy stalker, a bishounen who turns to be a sadist, a guy being possessed by his dead girlfriend, and some hinky things too like travestis, a nephew lovesick with his uncle who raised him (but i don't know if this last one ends as incest or not)...
Just need to read the whole thing again! It makes more sense when it's read all in one go, as opposed to waiting months, years between each chapter. It's so subtle and complex that it IS difficult to understand if you've forgotten certain character names/scenes.

Is anyone else really impatient to read this?! It seems like it's been a couple of years since it came out in Japan, and the first chapter of it was only recently translated. I'm so excited because they become a reversible couple and it's so freaking rare in yaoi!
Kumota Haruko is obviously a fan of reversible couples because she has them in Shinjuku Lucky Hole as well.
