Well I mean, as a mother, she had a very tough decision to make which she makes clear. It’s clear that, despite her other son’s homophobia, she still loves him (as a mother would). She knew if she let her other son live independently he’ll most likely fuck up. It was either let her other child mess up his life or let the mature one be independent, and she chose the latter. If she let the one being a turd go off and be independent, it’s clear that wouldn’t have been the valid move you think it is too. Saying the mother is guilt-tripping him is a stretch, she just wants what’s best for both of them albeit with tough decisions—they ARE her literal children after all. I just believe you’re thinking too low of the mother without thinking about the decision she had to make critically..
