In order to protect his own feelings he hurt his sister, he’s selfish but clearly regrets his own actions. So I wouldn’t say he’s as bad as the fairy

He only realized his mistake thanks to Annette, otherwise who knows he might have even ostracized Anne if they ever met at school! Just because the fairy is on another level of maliciousness it doesn't make the brother any better. He is a f*cking asshole for coming up with the idea of Anne betraying them! Like how f*cked in the head and selfish do you have to be to think that?! At least he isn't total waste since he is capable of change... all thanks to Annette! (╯°Д °)╯╧╧

He realised it late because he usually doesn’t act selfish and hurt other people, he acted the way he did because he was trying to protect his own feelings and only realised how selfish he was after being called out, it’s kinda like when a kid grows up in a toxic household and swears not to be abusive like their parents yet still learns some toxic behaviours from them, and they only realise the pattern after being called out for it. Dude is still in school, he’s still a kid, a kid who had to play the role of parent for his sister because of his neglectful parents, he acted selfless many times over so it would make sense how he wouldn’t notice his selfish actions because ‘he would never do that’ and ‘he’s never acted selfless before’
This does not excuse the behaviour, but helps explain the reasoning
You’re allowed to dislike a character for their flaws, but comparing them to the (clearly) main antagonist is a bit too far in my opinion

Are you calling the asshole fairy the main antagonist? I don't think I quite agree with that. After all the fairy is just faeing. Acting upon it's nature according to fae lore. Fae are malicious beings by human standards but by fae standards it's just normal. And what the fairy did wasn't even that bad compared with things they do in actual fae lore (I believe some eat the human children) or things humans do on the daily... I'd actually prefer considering humans the antagonists since their acts can be judged properly by human standards as long as what the non-human characters do isn't 'too bad'. The noble parents could be considered antagonists to the main character. And for all we know the main antagonist maybe didn't even make their appearance yet. Even though you are right about the brother the only reason we can't call him an antagonist is thanks to Annette calling him out right at the start before he could wallow in his hate any longer which could have changed his believes to become dogmatic and therefore basically unchangable. There is only a very thin line between the positive change and character development which happened in the story and the ugly things that could have happened. Since those things usually happen far easier than positive turns of events and those are the things I think about, I judge the brother harder than you do who looks at his positive character development. Though if we call any character who acts like an asshole towards the main characters an antagonist, then I guess the asshole fairy is one after all. To me personally what she did isn't bad enough to label her as such though.

For now (at least), the fairy is the one who gave the Mc the biggest hardships, is the one who seeks to see the humans have a hard time and is the one who has created this whole mess in the first place, which is why I assumed she was the main antagonist.
Meanwhile I see the brother as a flawed character who will probably get a redemption arc since he’s clearly regretting his decisions
Then again, we’re still pretty early in the manga so we don’t know what will happen

Oh, I thought fae lore was pretty much well known? I didn't even consider the possibility anyone could have never even heard of it. (￣∇￣") If you want to know more there are tons of stories based on it. "A midsummer night's dream" by Shakespeare might by the most well known though.
And yeah it definitely looks like the brother gets a redemption arc and I'm really glad that's the case. Though personally I still believe the one who hurt the MC the most, since it was kinda unexpected betrayal on a personal level, was the brother. Next would be the parents, though not as bad since they behaved that way from the beginning and she got used to it over time and on third place the asshole fairy since she might have created the whole situation but didn't hurt the MC personally. And the MC kinda grew up with the situation and got used to it over time as well, which is why I consider it to be not as bad since it doesn't hit as hard.

Oh I definitely agree that the brother hurt the Mc the most. A stranger not caring about you is fine but your own brother has got to be a gut punch for her, I actually teared up a bit when I read the chapter xd
Also thank you for the recommendation, I’m assuming fae lore is from Europe (most likely Western Europe) and I haven’t delved too deep into their mythology so this will be interesting
