yall can bring up your ethnicity all you want
if you're not black or native you have no say so many black people are saying how insensitive and gross it is and explained why atp you're choosing to be ignorant
THE AUTHOR CANCELED IT FOR A REASON so no matter how much you wanna be like "it shouldnt have been canceled" it was and you're done
are yall in the comments purposely being ignorant and stupid, I'm happy Jaxx took what ppl said and canceled it they can make a new story abt cowboys without using the civil war. if yall aren't poc or ESPECIALLY BIPOC sit down and stay in your lane bc obviously yall dont know what rhetoric is and how a story like this can be harmful so many ppl explained how the story is poor taste yall just bias bc you want gay sex and ignoring how a story like this can do harm
Fr like, i feel like all of us just wanted a Cowboy BL since the beginning, only to get slapped in the face with a white slave owner and worst of all, him being a "victim" of the circunstantes, Jaxx took it too lightly, without considering that it’s a sensitive topic that still affects people today. This all could be avoided
I understand where you are coming from, and I get that it is a sensitive subjext. But I also think that the background of the story doesn’t become the story. What happened back then it’s a historical fact, there were whites and slaves and a war. Portraying a white man suffering or as the victim does not mean the rest weren’t victims either. As I see it nobody wins in a war, and people are allowed to show grief for what they’ve lost. I reckon that if the story would have continued maybe we could have seen another side of the story and judge, or a redemption arc or who knows? I think it would have been wise to address the subject but to let the author learn from it and give it some trust.
“Background pf the story doesn’t be come the story” I’m sorry if you’re going to use the victims of slavery in your story only to mantained them as background face less characters and give all the protagonism to the oppressors, then dont use the story of slavery at all, yall acting like if it was impossible to create a cowboy story without making the protagonist à slave owner
When I said background I meant it as in the fact that in the only chapter we have been given they are in the background, but I do rather think that they would have been given some type of importance as the story unfolded. Also regarding your second point, I do agree with you that a cowboy story can be created without having slaves whatsoever, which is another reason why I think they story might have take a different turn in the following chapters.
After people raised their criticisms Jaxx checked her positionality and realised she does not have the reflexivity needed to create and tackle a story taking place in this setting. We can make assumptions and hope it would've gotten better, but that first chapter alone was enough of a dumpster fire to foreshadow what was to come, and in her best interests she rightfully discontinued it
this story definitely come off as interracial relationships to proximity of whiteness the native american having lowkenuinely white features but tan skin and long hair like give me my ethnic nose, and ngl again cowboy bl could've done smth like broke back mountain and why the ml gotta be a white man
