honestly i don't think soo-won is someone who'd have that sort of inferiority complex. he claimed he didn't need the dragons but now he's turning back on his words and is willing to leave the throne to zeno, all for for the sake of finding a suitable heir. if he was so obsessed with power and didn't care about anything else he'd just kill yona when they met in awa or at least wouldn't bother hiding her, he'd be getting rid of a major threat, he also didn't know about the dragons back then and was already ready to deal with hak so there's no reason as to why he wouldn't be able to do it. my guess is that even though his goal of making the country stronger is way above anything else he still cares about them.

also yona slapping soo-won would go against all her character development, she's not some pampered brat who acts however she likes anymore, she's aware that her actions has consequences, if she did do that there's no way they'd just leave it be. being able to bear the humiliation and stay calm is what makes her seem cool and mature imo. i think she's just become numb at this point, she also learned the reasons behind his actions so now she can see the bigger picture. sorry for writing a whole essay though lol

Finally someone who understands!!! This is the main reason why I was getting frustrated with Yona. I mean really this dude just killed your family and basically betrayed you and now you’re all like okay he’s sick need to help him

I agree they’re basically trying to make her as the holy grail FL who doesn’t get mad, who forgives and it just doesn’t give her character a justice. Show me the grief, the anger and just stop taking advantage of Hak’s kindness

AGREED Like female range and grief is not shown often in anime and with yonas character development seeing her crack under all the scrutiny under being back at the castle that she was chased away from with the intention to kill her having to care wether the guy who killed her father lives or dies because he’s the now king and her country can’t lose him god I wanna see her scream or rage or crack and show her humanity a lil more!! Thank u for agreeing like she doesn’t need to be composed 24/7 to be a good female lead let me see her pain and empathize with it

The way that I was getting angrier than her whenever su woon came close like I literally lost it and she’s just so composed?? like I understand why she’s so calm but that doesn’t mean u cant make her crack under a moment of frustration and slap the shit outta su woon or want to see him suffer for what he did to her it shows her humanity and we all love angry Yona tbh

I agree and see you point but yonas character development is not done like she’s can still falter and she can still crack and show her humanity it helps the audience sympathize with her shows that she’s human and she can get angry and frustrated like the rest of us. Plus we’ve seen angry yona before she’s a badass and it’s not like she’s incapable of being angry. I agree that she’s tired but it’s okay to be angry and frustrated and it’d be cool for the author to show female range and grief which is not often showcased in anime (or manga) and maybe it’s me personally but it’d be dope to see yona struggle now that she’s back at the castle where she grew up in, where her father was killed and she was chased out and struggle to adapt or have trouble sleeping or smt (maybe she showcases a lil more of her when she was younger now that she’s back at the castle) I’d love to see yona struggle to adapt to life at the palace and be reminded of what happened because grief doesn’t just end you carry that with you every step of the way yona doesn’t need to act like mother mary 24/7 for me to understand she’s matured cause it’s okay not to be mature around the guy who killed your dad and chased you out of your home, the guy who you loved and betrayed you (I understand she’s a princess and she’s got appearances to keep I’m not asking for her to be angry 24/7) just cracks at her frustration and still lingering grief cause I be getting angrier than her sometimes when I see soo won. Sorry I know this is long but hopefully I got my point across

she was basically doing nothing but crying the first arc haven't you seen her grieve enough though...people eventually get used to someone they care about being dead and they also learn to look at the bigger picture and think rationally, that's what's realistic about it. not showing her anger or flustration so her loved ones will be safe is also part of her human side, that doesn't mean she forgave him. it'd be lame as hell if she started screaming the moment she saw soo won, thankfully she cares about the people of her country more than her grudge

i also think her being reminded of what happened while staying in the castle and occasionally showing her flustration would be cool but screaming and raging just ain't it. the way the author portrayed her grief was perfectly realistic. first she was confused, then sad, angry and finally she was able to fully accept what happened and look for reasons. when they met after the awa arc she was visibly angrier but now she has learned to control her emotions, unless something happens to hak or the dragons i don't think she'll crack and honestly i don't really want her to cause i'm happy with how much she's matured
