Reminded me of my ma. But it's the other way round with me :D I told her that in trans and she thought I was a lesbian :D then after a while she came to accept it.

Well, I guess it can be different for everyone, at least she had tried to understand. . . Sort of, she reacted horribly when her neighbor said he was gay. To be honest I like when the characters are strait forward, and I can't really connect with this type of situation since I live in a small town where the high school (grades 7-12) has a little over 50 students.

She's a counsellor, she probably knew. You send your very male son in a dress, it's obvious he's going to get bullied. But the mother has a problem in which she denies stuff for her own benefit and mental state. She only chooses to see things the way she wants to.

Knowing is not the problem.

The mother knows a lot of things. She just denies them or configures truths in such a way that becomes more acceptable for her.

He on the other hand couldn't tell her because her opinions matter a lot to him. He believed that if this was a way for her to cope to the fact that he was gay then he would do it. He probably thought it was better than the worse outcome he could have gotten, for example getting abused by her or neglected/thrown out. Her opinion and love mattered alot to him and that's why he continued doing so even when he was getting bullied.

Wanting everything to be straightforward is well and good but you shouldn't expect the same out of every person/situation you meet. No one solution works for every thing. Remember you are dealing with different people. You can't tackle the same type of problem with the same solution everytime when factors change all the time, even miniscule ones may have the biggest impact.

If he were more straightforward he might have lost his mother forever, and he might find that worse than the bullying he received. He might have gotten physical abuse from his mother because he didn't give her time to accept it. Because she might say that she accepts him but it's obvious that she doesn't. It's why she was scared that the neighbour was one too. It's why she needs to see him in girl's clothes first so it can be more acceptable for her first. When you push someone to accept a belief that they have denied for so long, you may get horrible results.

Many other things may have happened. As a teacher, it's dangerous to apply only one method especially since you don't know what might befall the child. I hope you can see that.

Plus, having a college degree is essential to getting a decent job in the future. Even tho he's tight on money now, it doesn't make sense for him to ruin his future opportunities just because of his fucktard brother (▰˘◡˘▰)
