I can’t even lie, I forced myself to read through everything. It was terrible—the first story was slightly bearable though.
Song and Hong Lian were pretty cute though and they raised such a wonderful, AMAZING child.
- MLs were HORRIBLE. I hated them [ngas] so much dawg. They were genuinely being slow when they were putting their “loved ones” through so fucking much for no reason at all. Every time one of the MCs went through something, it was never at the fault of their own hands. I hated it especially when the ML would ACCUSE the MC of cheating and being promiscuous all because they happened to fucking chat it up with someone (that they may or may not have known). This is also while they KNOW the Mc is not the type to do that at all and has been trying to convey their love in several meaningful ways. Extreme hypocrisy to the next level I’ll tell ya’ because the MLs are always the promiscuous, cheating, whore ass mfs. Even though it sounds terrible, I would wish on the death of the MCs just so they could get away bro— it sounds bad but honestly with the shit they were going through just because they existed, they wanted to die too.
- Could not stand the second ML AT AL. The apple did not fall far from the fucking tree. He was Jun Xuanxiao’s son alright. Jun X looks 1000x better now that his son is in the picture. He was an ASSHOLE! Nothing he did made sense, you can tell he’s been cooped up in camps all his life because he has no BRAINS at-fucking-all. He doesn’t think and it really shows. Clearly he needed Liqing (sorry if I misspelled) bad because he was not at ALL educated on anything except how to be a grade A abuser.
He was absolutely bottom of the barrel and I prayed so hard on the downfall of their relationship and every time I saw Li almost rethink his choice and show a sliver of hope for that guy (I will not bother to remember his name, I hate him), I lost a brain cell. I was losing my mind throughout the whole thing. I was seconds away from dropping it but Li was standing on business! He was not going back and that’s what kept me going. The second ML (we’re gonna cal him AH for short) kept coming back though, as if he didn’t do all that shit to Li. He abused him, raped him (of course), put him on his deathbed, neglected him, tortured him, BRANDED HIM, hated him for who he was, accused him several times of cheating, assaulted him, threatened to kill his parents, accused him of poising someone he cared for, cheated on him several times, broke his heart, berated him verbally and kept assaulting him even after he was damn near dead.
Then this guy had the BALLS to say “you didn’t give me enough time to regret what I did to you”, okay motherfucker?? You put him through HELL on Earth, and you think you deserve him at all? You should’ve just left him alone—you do NOT deserve him and you never WILL. Li was much too good for that asshat and it’s a shame he couldn’t love Pei because they would’ve been so cute together. Pei actually treated him like a fucking human being and didn’t abuse him (crazy how that’s the standard)— he even really loved him. Li even went blind because of the ML mistreating him so much— HE WENT BLIND. All because of the neglect that mf put him through. AH is such a narcissist and a loser. He lost the BEST mf in the world all because he can’t control himself or his temper. I don’t CARE that he was ‘trying’ to get better, it will NEVER erase all the shit he put Li through for no fucking reason at all. Hope he fucking dies, XOXO.
TL;DR
MLs were assholes, second ML was 1000x worse. MCs didn’t deserve anything they were put through— everything they went through wasn’t their fault, it was the MLs fault.
Justice for the MCs because they were always too good for the ML’s.
Song and Lian’s story might’ve been the only good and least rage-inducing one in this.
Second ML needs to fucking die.

100 percent agreed that the ML are shit and the MC should have been freed from them BUT I must say I feel like the novel portrays/ describes the emotions better of each character! This read if obviously not for the light heart and not to everyone’s taste but one thing I wished were the MC died and the ML live with that regret for the rest of their lives especially the son. I love a bit of yearning and realizing that they f-ed up only to realize what they yearn for had died kinda like the novel the 12 years that I loved you
You know what, that’s completely valid. I do enjoy reading more than art sometimes because I feel like you can flesh out more emotions through words and there’s not enough time to do that through art. Thank you for this! (▰˘◡˘▰)
No problem! I have read the novel over and over and the regret/yearning is going to hit in the next couple of chapters (or not lol)! I must say the artist and translation does not do it justice.
Skimmed through this whole thing, mouth agape in shock. Had to skip like, all of it. People are weird asf. Justifying this shi with the “age of consent there is [as soon as you’re born],” uhh, okay. Please stay far away from any kids (and your siblings)

I’m not gonna hate on the art style (I lowkey don’t mind it— reminds me of more American style comics or some shi, not just that Koleen style everyone fiends over). Art is most definitely subjective and people have their preferences or whateva. I can tell most of you guys don’t read stories without pictures, lolol /j. ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
Everyone hating is kinda crazy, but it’s fine. I get people have opinions. Not that I trust anyone on mangago to have a valid one (/hj..), it’s chill. I just don’t see why the author is catching so many strays considering it’s their first work lololll— I’m just guessing people are so used to the regular manhwa (or whatever the fuck) style so much so that any other one is rather detestable in their eyes.
