i don't think he was sadist. i think the correct term is abusive. sadist people enjoy what they do, kan-chan didn't seem like he was enjoying it. more like doing it out of anger.
there's a VERY fine line between sadism and abuse. kan-chan was abusive not a sadist.
He finally realized that Yumi would have let him seriously hurt and not say anything. Kan-chan was starting to hate Yumi, he realized that Yumi let him hurt him because he felt bad about not loving him. Taking the beatings was his way of compensating for that love. Everytime he hit him his anger gets worse, eventually he might have killed him, glad he sent him away, Yumi would not have left him on his own. Hope he finds someone who truly loved him and not like Yumi who used him to try and forget about a lost love.
ok. being used is a horrible feeling sure, but what kan-chan did was beyond wrong. beatings for compensation? that should immediately say something is wrong. used or not, you don't turn abusive just like that. kan-chan blamed yumi, but he himself is (mostly) at fault as well. kan-chan already had the signs of being abusive since high school, when his friends were complaining about how they beat each other up and he thought "you are such good friends." that immediately should show he has had an abusive streak in him. whether it be cause he was taught stuff wrong, had an abusive upbringing, etc. it's a good thing he wanted to change, and not hurt the person he loves ANYMORE, but he's not the victim in this. their relationship was bad, and yumi was (debatably) at fault sometimes too, but never EVER should you lift a finger against your partner. that is when he crossed the line of being the victim. he should've left yumi a long time ago. not "beat" him for "compensation."
