I think the autor made the MC with a "dumb" personality because of her past.
She grew up alone without interacting with other intelligent beings (apart from her father). This circumstances make her act the way she does when interacting with others now.

I think there was another chapter later on that shows more of their reaction to this instance later on but I don't feel like digging through 30 chapters to find it lol. However, this reaction isn't to the real deal but a "fake" (don't know how else to put it without fully spoiling). We never see their reaction to the real deal
