Sigh, I took a chance on this one but I have to say I really liked it. It was bittersweet with a good but sad ending.

Okay, I actually had to ignore several points in this manga in order to read it since I like all her other works. I find it ironic that in the beginning the uncle denies being a pedophile, yet he had sex with his TWELVE year old nephew, regardless of how he looked. I also choose to believe that the nephew was not biological, but brought into the family by marriage. I get the gist that the nephew didn't like his uncle until after saving he saves him, which to me means they were not close before and interacted as semi strangers. Other than those points, it was an okay manga.
The worst thing is that the ages are not properly said and they keep changing the years he was gone. He wasn't a pedophile though. The nephew is supposed to be 18 and said he was a late grower.
The nephew's not 12. The manga said he's just 8 years YOUNGER than the uncle, not eight years old. Considering he's in middle school and the uncle is in college at the start of the story, that makes him around 12 to 15 years old, so after the four-year time skip, he would be like 16 to 19 years old.
GL is right. If you think that's a 12 year old he had sex with, you're nuts.
In the beginning, he's likely 13-15 since he tells his uncle he's a late bloomer before departing over seas. 4 years later, he's 17-19. He could possibly even be 20. Azuma is just 8 years older than him.
And just to let you know, it's legal to have sex with a person who's 12-13 or older in Japan. Age of consent is fairly young there. Not that I agree with it personally, but it it is what it is.

Guys, when Taira says that Azuma saved him "6 years ago" and then the flashback had Azuma saying that he wouldn't let a "GRADESCHOOLER" walk home alone at night, that was Taira's final year of grade school before middle school, so that puts him at about 12, then in the chapter where Taira comes back from overseas, Azuma's sister says "he was adamant about going to COLLEGE in Japan," and then Taira comments on being in love with Azuma for "6 years," which would make him around 18-19. Just saying...
