for those curious, nezumi is kinda an umbrella term for a bunch of rodents. Mice, rats, voles, guinea pigs, hamsters etc.
On their twitter, the author revealed that Sachio is a vole. But I dont remember if they mentioned what species his family is. Tho they mention that voles are close relatives to hamsters. So wouldnt be surprised if the short-tailed family members are hamsters.
Really cant blame him for this choice. There wasnt exactly another "out" for him left.
