oh! No, it is not due to them being "impure" at all! It is because the powers that they gain is shared with their guardian. However, the guardian gains power through the pride of their masters, and since the twins HATE their bloodline of being royalty, the guardian (the red fox) is unable to gain any powers and is barely able to retain his own form.
