After I found out and read the spoiler, I think this story is darker in the novel than the manhwa, in this manhwa they are act so silly (maybe because the artist wanted them to look silly lol). Dark stories always start with comedy anyway, idk it's like a trend

When Shen Jue' mother died because of giving birth to him and he didn't have a basic attach with his father, at his home he was even ostracized and bullied by his half-siblings. So when his family was slaughtered he would take revenge to Wei De and that's it.
On the other hand, Xiahou Lian's mother, Xiahou Pei died and finally he took revenge. and when he reached the point where he had taken revenge, it turned out that behind his mother's death was his father, Sih Xi who kill his mother. He even has a twin, Chi Yan whose only educated by his father to be pure assassin without having basic logic to the point where he doesn't know what family is, what a twin is and what a wife is. he also doesn't understand basic emotions, to the point where they both learn from each other, Chi Yan teaches Xiahou Lian to be an assassin and Xiahou Lian teaches Chi Yan basic things. In the end, Xiahou Lian killed his father and truly had his revenge, and before died, his father sent Chi Yan on a mission to the north. His life is really hard and complicated.
