I have seen it happen in a story already, so considering ml's personality, I wonder if he kinda orchestrated the whole SA situation to force mc into a knight in a shining armor situation and make him feel like protecting ml and stay with him...
That would be a less cliche turn of events rather than just throwing SA and that's it, and would explain ML's lack of trauma about the event... at the same time, hoping not cuz MC deserves better... but I tend to like to see it being more intereesting regardless, so eh

I think I am just scarred by that one manga I saw lmao in which things happened, ml looked innocent till the extra chapter as in "no fucking way, he is so pitiful, but also the typical naive ml that gets with the red flag" type of innocent and then BAM.
