one star ka sa’kin, ulol. i feel like some readers only hype this manhua for the pretty art, but let’s be real—the plot is a total mess. the ml is an absolute piece of sh–t, and the fl screams stockholm syndrome. definitely not my taste.
i just finished this manga, and honestly, it feels like nothing more than a justification for cheating, misogyny, and various forms of abuse. the male lead, ryu, clearly doesn’t love anyone in a genuine way. from my perspective, he doesn’t seek love—he seeks possession. he has a savior complex, which fuels his desire to “claim” these girls under the excuse that they’re “one of us,” meaning people with dysfunctional families, abusive pasts, or miserable lives.
i forgot what chapter is it, but he even implied that sx is the only way a woman can please a man—a disgusting, objectifying statement that made me sick.
then there’s the scene where ryu and koharu are about to have sx for real. he tells her that even if she doesn’t like his touch, her body is “betraying” her—or contradicting her own words. i’m so done with manga/manhua/webtoons that push the idea that rape or assault can be excused because the body has a natural response to physical stimulation. a person’s body reacting doesn’t erase their lack of consent—their mind and feelings are what matter.
in chapter 184, when koharu tries to leave, ryu says, “if i promised to love nobody but you, will you stay with me?” i assume he actually meant it, since koharu was the only one he truly tried to keep by his side, and the one he’s supposedly “loved” for over 12 years and more. this makes it clear that his so-called love for yuzu and madoka was shallow—he was willing to abandon them the moment it conflicted with his obsession with koharu.
in conclusion, i’d rather shoot myself in the head than ever reread this manga again. i honestly can’t understand why the author even came up with this plot. maybe it’s a kink, unresolved trauma, or some personal experience, like being cheated on—or being the homewrecker. either way, i seriously suggest the author sign up for therapy, /j. actually, every single character in this story could use therapy, LOLOLOL!
i’ve been rereading this since 2021, and it still hits differently. this manhua is definitely my comfort zone—i always find myself coming back to it whenever i’m feeling down (,,>﹏<,,)
i kinda get why some readers think that yamada is a red flag, but i think y’all are also forgetting the fact that this is yamada’s first relationship. i personally think that calling yamada a “red flag” is too much, everyone makes a mistake, and the fact that he acknowledged his mistake says a lot about him; he’s not that “red flag” you guys.
