Maybe it stings a little just as the needle pierces. But it's very brief. It's much like getting a shot, but the results are prettier. I've gotten two piercings in one ear, three in the other (one is a helix), a tongue piercing and one in the navel. The least "painful" was the navel and helix.
The one that took the most time to heal was the helix.
