I get where youre coming from :) But he said yes. That yes applies to then onwards, due to the contract he signed. I'm not denying that is dreadful, and wrong, it just isn't rape. If he didn't sign, then yeah, he could have absolutely have revoked his yes at any and all time, as consent goes. But he didnt. It isn't rape. Also, if you're all finding it so damming, aren't you dropping it? Yes, being pressured into the contract is not at all ethical and blurs the lines, but he didn't have to, and wasn't being blackmailed in any way.

Dan still had the opportunity to refuse that first time. He had a choice the first time. Jk told him to leave twice in chapters 3-4 after threatening him.

My point is, basically, he still consented because he was getting something out of it, and the fact that after their first encounter, Dan still went ahead to request another $14,000. That's like a green light on JK’s part to add more terms to their contract.
