Or is it that they have had so many contracts that there are some that just slip through the cracks of memory ,...this might be the case for Sebastian since this flashback might be showing us one of his past contracts

reading his backstory, it really did not make sense to me why he is like that to Maxi. He experienced abuse/trauma/poverty but so is Maxi and other characters in that world. The diff is he is the ML.
