In my opinion, if the author is ok with rape and now with "cheating" nothing that comes next will be pleasant to read. I know fantasy history theme series like this one and far between, but I rather save myself the headache I will get as the writer starts to add more toxic theme, who know, the ML might force himself on his partner, the story already has rape, abuse, and blood. ╮(￣▽￣)╭

I am a homosexual male myself who went through a similar experience; obviously, no guy is as perfect or understands their partner as easily as MC in novels.
Anyway, I wanted to hide back in 2010, and my partner was all about pride. He quite literally forced me into a pride parade, and I then realized I was scared of the wrong thing.
I am not saying force is the way to go, but it does help when one person is being stubborn and unwilling to compromise, like I was.
The way he put it back then was, "If we can't get past this, I will always be careful with my words around you, and it will break me inside."
We are still together to this day, and without his... Specific characteristics we would have broken up a long time ago.
