Sakura changed with every fight and every interaction so they saw his growth. Sakura was even inspired to become like Umemiya. I guess that wasn't the case with Momijikawa.
Came here after i saw a post on fb saying the author finally put this piece on end cuz author's health isnt in good condition. Dunno if its true tho but i like that the author thought about us readers when he made this decision

Tbf a lot of people hated Momijikawa when he was first introduced due to him telling Sakura, that an outsider like him, doesn’t belong there. In fairness everyone was a little wary when Sakura first arrived in Mokochi since it’s rare for outsiders to come to Furin. Some still hate Momijikawa as he so far was the only one, other Sugishita, to show aggression towards Sakura without getting to know him first. But honestly after knowing his backstory, u can see why he hates outsiders. Regardless, after getting to know Sakura he showed remorse for his treatment and now gets along with him, even tried to help cheer him up after Sakura helped in his darkest moment.
in addition to that, everyone in furin was saying that sakura shouldnt be alone cuz that might be dangerous for him or sumtin but when momijikawa got introduced, everyone at furin was thinking of him as “cool” for being a lone wolf like wth is that.
I was made at him first, but the moment i saw him crying and fighting i was like "oh boy, i don't understand what's going on but i can tell after a few chapters i won't be able to hate him anymore",
Oh and, no one at furin was wary of Sakura when he arrived? They were very friendly during the first day of school, they were curious yes, but no one treated him in even slightly different way
And they were worried about Sakura because they weren't very aware of his strength, he was new in town while momi was already like a legend thanks to his past fights in town, so he was cool to them because of that and because he kept a stoic expression, Sakura was strong but they were worried about him; he wasn't good with emotions and it was obvious how broken he was
The reason people said Sakura should not be alone is because he said he wanted to be the top of the school. And we can see everytime from Umemiya that he became the leader because he had friends. It's explicitly stated that, if you wanna reach the top, you should not be alone. That's the whole point of the Shishitoren arc
But people thinking Sakae being alone is cool is because he's not trying to be the top. He doesn't want to be a leader and a leader in Makochi is not supposed to be alone.
That's why no has a problem with Sakae being alone and treat the situation differently when it comes to Sakura. There's also the issue that Sakae was dealing with his family, that made him not able to mingle freely with others
