Tbh I don’t think SHJ is toxic at all he’s actually the perfect person for the Mc. Mc struggles a lot with self doubt and likes to put a lot of responsibilities on himself especially when it’s about one of his ‘kids’ or somebody close to him. SHJ not being a person under his influence and SHJ being so reliable allows the Mc to be the kid around him when he had to be the adult to everyone else. There is actually a lot more but those are spoilers, we’ll get there soon
As someone who has finished reading the novel, and had similar thoughts as you, I can assert with absolute certainty that these two are made for each other.
As I started with the webtoon, the only thing I liked about Sung Hyunjae was his antics, however the novel changed my mind. I Iove this shameless guy(≧∀≦). But, I wish the webtoon could have done hima nd Yoojin justice. The novel's characterization and manhwa's are really different.

Right? In a world where everyone can be his ‘kid’ only SHJ will be an exception. When HYJ doubts himself you will almost be 100% know that if SHJ is there that he will know. SHJ is the ‘Adult’ that HYJ highly lacks in his life. Somebody responsible but SHJ can lean on and not feel guilty about. And HYJ can be the ‘stability’ that SHJ that he lacks, an anomaly that no matter how monster a person is will still love them as they are, HYJ literally represents life for him. They’re so healthy if you look closely at it I love their relationship
