Yeah it was explained that its not just love but also grows as a result of heat/rut.
Essentially young Andrea was lusting over Plin for a while and made Hugo jealous over his younger self. Also made plin realize Andrea wasn't the innocent boy he remembered.
Yk what I hate most, open endings. Wdym that where they were found in the mountains was the end of the main story

Well other have their opinions, but I find it as a good read to pass some time. I'm the type of person who likes reading those "underestimated /overpowered mc" so yeah this was my cup of tea. Definitely there's plot holes from here and there, but oh well the friendship and guildwars covered the flaw for me. (￣∇￣")
