I respect your opinion. But I cannot agree (just my opinion).
Jiang Wenxu/Adolph became the boss because of He Zishu/Lewis. That company/business was given to He Zishu and he together with Jiang built it up. Zishu once wanted to be a doctor, but he ran away with Jiang who promised to love him only and never hurt him. Zishu obeyed everything Jiang told him... denying to himself that Jiang was fooling around. Zishu gave all he could - but Jiang played around and had sex, not just once or twice. He took his boy toy to Paris while Zishu was alone at home waiting for him. Jiang didn't notice Zishu's physical condition... he even raped Zishu out of jealousy (this was after Zishu had chemo session, alone).
The only person I see as selfish is Jiang. Zishu loved him until he was exhausted physically, mentally and emotionally. He left Jiang when he was already dying - and the "well of love" had dried up. Coz wells do dry up without a water source - like love dries up when it isn't nurtured. And the stuff Zishu went thru... I'm more inclined to let him be selfish.
I'm not saying you're opinion is wrong. But I just can't fully sympathize with a guy who cheats on, neglects and rapes the person he claims to love. Yeah he can be remorseful... But can he undo all the pain he inflicted on the person who loved him? If Jiang had kept his promise to be true, the plot of this story could have been happier, perhaps Zishu could have lived. And the doc would have just stayed in the background, giving treatment and supporting both Zishu only as a friend and physician.
Just my line of thoughts/opinion on this. But yeah... Jiang has fallen into the deepest despair alone. Sad. But his remorse won't bring back his lost love.
