Okay, so there it is. The king was born with congenital insensitivity to pain. It's funny how the author picked a real & rare genetic condition as the basis to create the character of the king. Not to be confused with the generalized loss of sense brought about by an illness like diabetes, people with this condition can feel everything (touch, temperature, etc.), except for pain, or extreme stimuli that cause pain. Lots of you have asked why the king is brutal. Well, turns out he never knew what pain was to begin with. To him, breaking an ankle, or stabbing/flogging someone is not a big deal, because for him, it's probably no different from feeling someone giving a tap or hard slap in the back. If you recall back when the king broke Heun's ankle, he said "Had I known you would be in so much pain, I wouldn't have done it". That line infuriated everyone, coz duh, why wouldn't you know something so obvious? Now we know, he really didn't know it. This is one of the root causes that makes him over the top heartless. But having witnessed the process of Heun breaking apart & dying of suicide 100 yrs ago, he started to learn to empathize. And he is still continuing to learn in this lifetime too. But as expected, change can't come overnight, it comes in stages. At least for now, I'll give him a bit of credit for his willingness to learn. And finally, this inability to feel pain is not something to be envious about. Being able to feel pain is essential to life. If you are robbed of that, you are basically being given a very severe handicap & you have to be extremely vigilant about the state of your well being at all times. And no, real people with the condition don't turn into a psycho like the king. They have their own portion of suffering too, although not in terms of physical pain. Honestly. Just ten years ago folks would have known the difference between fiction and reality. Just ten years ago folks would have known the difference between the mentally disturbed and the mentally sound. Just ten years ago people had the ability to see the whole picture. Now I come back to my favorite childhood manga and am terribly soured from the most recent comments. Just why.This is a damn good manga that has its ups and downs with ALL the characters. Character development that some anime series only wish they could achieve, and intricate relationships that is uncommon in shoujo mangas. I honestly can appreciate Taku as a fictional character because I do find him interesting and layered. But I am TIRED of ppl claiming he was incredibly sincere and cared about Haesoo so much. Idk if some of y’all skipped these parts, or chose to ignore it... but pls do see the following examples of Taku's manipulative and selfish behavior, and taking advantage of Haesoo:Exhibit 1 - He wanted to use his sex tape to guilt trip Haesoo in their relationship. He said: “I hoped that guilt would bring you to me”. It only didn't happen cause Haesoo turned down publishing the sex tape. It was not that Taku backed away and stopped himself because he realized how fcked up his actions were. It made Haesoo uncomfortable and weirded out too,, pretty sure this can count as sexual/workplace harassment lmao
Exhibit 2 - In chapter 96’s flashback Taku says "i just want to read the story he writes about me when i'm gone” (his friend calls him an asshole too lol). This is a throwback to Leo telling Joowon over the phone about how Taku uses his models for his work, and then tosses them aside with little regard. He was planning the same with Haesoo, until he later got “attached”. that’s karma ig~
Exhibit 3 - Haesoo expressed that he was unsure/not ready for a relationship. Yet literally RIGHT AFTER his quasi breakup with Joowon, Taku is pressuring him like, "I'm still waiting for an answer". It's weird cause Haesoo's wounds are fresh from his breakup, and Taku is NOT stupid. He knew this and persisted. Haesoo shouldn't have agreed and that's his own fault (HS is not entirely a victim here lets make that clear). Meanwhile Taku? He was flat out taking advantage of Haesoo's broken emotions.
Exhibit 4 - Quote: “It must have been painful for him no doubt, but I still wanted to see more". This was Taku's thought during a photoshoot with Haesoo, which later made Haesoo cry at the exhibition (Chapter 92/93). Taku told Haesoo: "think about having sex with someone you love, but you can never see them again". This was RIGHT AFTER Joowon and Haesoo's big separation. To inflict emotional pain in your partner, and then say you were interested in seeing more? Bruh no… just no.
Exhibit 5 - Quotes: “Every time I saw how sad you were, it felt good.” “You were lonely. You need me because of your unhappiness.” —Chapter 58. This is from Taku's monologue of how Haesoo’s unhappiness made him feel good, because he felt depended on by Haesoo for comfort // hs get away from this man pls haha
Exhibit 6 - Another quote: “If I can’t beat him [jw] one-on-one, then I at least want you [hs] to feel bad” —Chapter 66 ...Can Taku stop wishing for Haesoo depression, like he's already sad jfc
Exhibit 7 - "I want to bury inside the void he [jw] left in you. And later I'll push him aside however I can." ...honestly this quote struck me as Taku taking advantage of Haesoo's heartbreak and being hella 'opportunistic' (btw: Taku called HIMSELF that in his interview in chapter 5 so I mean... lol). Maybe that's just me though idk.
Exhibit 8 - In Chapter 84 when Joowon's scandal broke out, notice how Taku starts texting "are you okay?" to Haesoo, then deletes it and instead tells him to stop caring about Joowon? This moment said a lot to me, because it's the fact that Taku is SO AWARE of how Haesoo must be feeling, but he purposely chooses to ignore that and cares more about winning and keeping him away from Joowon. Kinda struck me as the opposite from Joowon's phone call after Haesoo's modelling news dropped in chapter 68. JW asked Haesoo to not do the exhibition because he knew its not what HS wanted (he is right: haesoo always wanted to be known for his writing not his face, and felt crappy abt it all day). But when Haesoo said he was fine, JW told him he'll always be on Haesoo's side even as a hyung/friend. He made it so clear how he cares the most about HS simply being okay, even after Haesoo left him.
Exhibit 9 - Taku tells Haesoo he hopes he has a hard time with Joowon after their breakup (Chapter 99). It felt wrong to me cause Haesoo genuinely apologized and gently let him down in their breakup... but Taku tries to make Haesoo feel worse. I honestly understand being spiteful towards exes who mistreated you in some way. HOWEVER with this relationship: it seemed to highlight Taku’s selfishness. Taku is out here acting like Haesoo wronged him for simply not liking him back in a 1 month TRIAL relationship. As if he wasnt the one who initiated and *insisted* on their relationship. As if he was unaware of Haesoo’s feelings for Joowon. As if Taku didnt say it was better that they use each other. Him wanting to make Haesoo feel bad over this is wild considering all the conditions of their relationship and his past manipulation too.
((Also, Taku in this scene to Haesoo: “Sorry I told you I'm not a good person” … Like sir, if you know you’re not a good person, THEN FIX IT. Joowon spent almost 40 chapters self-reflecting n trying to correct the mistakes he made, when he never *intentionally* wanted to hurt Haesoo lol. Meanwhile some Taku fans: “omg he’s a good person that was wronged. haesoo never deserved him!” lmaooo))

Anyway I’m gonna have to start sending this to some of y’all who selectively read Taku’s character to all hell. He was really manipulative with Haesoo and had some bad intentions. And when Taku grew to stop being a robot and showed “real feelings” getting all attached to Haesoo and liking him more than he expected, he was STILL selfish and wanted Haesoo to suffer for him. He didn’t get enough development to stray away from that, but imo that’s exactly why he’s the second lead

Yes, but consent does not carry. Especially in bdsm. Just because someone agreed once before, does not give their partner the right to their body indefinitely. No. Bdsm is consensual, and chanwoo did not and can not consent.

Sometimes i want to read a certain chapter or go through some important moments where there was some romantic development instead of the usual comical chapters, but it's really hard to find them because there is 300 chapters. So i decided to make a list.Ch. 97 - Jian Yi holds Zhan ZhengXi's hand while he is asleep and remembers a scene from their childhood where Zhan ZhengXi was holding his hand and telling him to hold tight.
Ch. 112&113 - Zhan ZhengXi takes Jian Yi mountain climbing for his birthdays and there is a touching moment when they reach the top.
Ch. 126&127- Mo attacks Jian Yi, but Zhan XiXi protects him and gets hit in the head with a stone.
Ch. 128&129 - Zhan XiXi is at the hospital; he calls Jian Yi and tells him he wants to see him while Jian Yi is crying. Jian Yi goes to the hospital and hugs Zhan Xixi saying 'just once'.
Ch. 140&141 - Jian Yi kisses Zhan XiXi, then he gets punched and runs away after saying 'it's a joke, what do you care'. Zhan XiXi runs after him.
Ch. 142&143 - Zhan XiXi runs after Jian Yi in the rain. He asks him if he likes men and Jian Yi breaks down, and asks Zhan XiXi to pretend it was only a joke. Zhan XiXi hugs him. (without argue the most emotional few chapters of the manhua.)
Ch. 153 - ZhanXiXi tells Jian Yi his head is a mess since what happened and asks him to tell him what he is thinking. Jian Yi tells him that it's all because of him, and they both get embarrassed.
Ch. 164 – ZhanXiXi takes drunk Jian Yi home and tries to leave him on his bed but he ends up falling on top of him. Jian Yi asks him if he is abnormal and starts crying; ZhanXiXi replies that he is not and hugs him.
Ch. 165 – Jian Yi gives ZhanXiXi a hickey, but ZhanXiXi pushes him away and Jian Yi tells him that he should go back.
Ch. 169 – ZhanXiXi tells Jian Yi that he wants to become stronger so that he can protect him, and he holds his hand.
Ch. 174&175 – He Tian kisses Mo, but Mo starts crying and pushes him off. He Tian asks him if he disgusts him that much, and he says yes.
Ch. 185 – After He Tian fought with She Li to protect Mo, he shows up with his hand cut and Mo takes his jacket off to cover his wound, and there is sort of a hand hold.
Ch. 188 – He Tian walks Mo out and gives him his jacket; he tells him to not try and bear everything himself, and Mo gets kinda teary.
Ch. 192 – Jian Yi gets kidnapped, and there is a few serious chapters after this while they rescue him. ZhanXiXi comments that he wants to see him and after being rescued Jian Yi also says that he wants to see ZhanXiXi.
Ch. 198 – Reunion after Jian Yi is rescued. ZhanXiXi tells him that if there comes a time he doesn’t come back he won’t forgive him while they hold each other, sort of.
Ch. 202 – While playing basketball, He Tian falls on top of Mo and he lays his head on his shoulder asking him to stay like that for a moment, and he says ‘just a moment would be fine’.
Ch. 207, 208&209 – ZhanXiXi asks Jian Yi if he likes him. THE CONFESSION. And afterwards ZhanXiXi kisses Jian Yi on the forehand.
Ch. 2017& – He Tian takes Mo to a restaurant where Mo’s dad was attacked. Mo rushes out feeling sick and he calls He Tian’s name before he throws up. He Tian replies ‘I’m here’ and takes him back to his place.
Ch. 228 – He Tian has a nightmare in which he remembers how his brother buried the puppy he saved. He calls Mo in the middle of the night and after Mo yells at him and hangs up, he thinks to himself ‘good, he is still there’. (btw he didn’t actually bury the puppy, the dog appeared in one of the recent chapters and He Tian’s brother was still taking care of the dog).
Ch. 236&237 – He Tian pretends to be unconscious so Mo drags him to bed and ends up on top of him. Before he leaves he tells He Tian he wants double the pay for cleaning his house and He Tian brushes his head and tells him he will pay him ten times the price.
Ch. 242 – Mo gets into a fight with some guys who were talking badly about his mum. He Tian comes to save him. In Ch. 244 he starts throwing up blood, He Tian takes him to the hospital and pays for the hospital fees.
Ch. 254 – He Tian comes back after meeting with his father. He goes to Mo’s house and meets him outside. He places his head on his shoulder and tells him he is so tired. Mo lets him sleep over in ch. 255
Ch. 259&260 – He Tian has a nightmare, he starts screaming in his sleep and calling for help, so Mo holds his hand. When he wakes up he thanks Mo.
Ch. 268 – ZhanXiXi draws that beautiful drawing of him and Jian Yi holding hands under an umbrella(?) on the wall.
