Deep sigh, haven't wrote a comment since it was turned back on but here we go. While I understand there is nuance, fear, potentially lack of confidence because of their previous dynamics (power, social, economic) the MC is WIDLY uncommunicative and frankly inconsiderate in his decision making. BOTH can be true that he has valid reasoning to his feelings AND that he is only thinking about himself when he makes decisions. You don't just have a 'friend' kiss you on your forehead at your wedding photoshoot on your honeymoon (Not saying it was consensual), have your partner express discomfort, turn around to seek him out to work with him professionally afterwards, AND THEN confide in him about your marriage/health issues. Could you imagine if it was reverse? We'd be flaming the ML and calling him an asshole. Where's the lesson learned here? The first hardship was him making a medically risky decision (by himself) because he couldn't sit down and have a conversation with his husband. The second conflict is once again him going through a medically sensitive situation and being able to confide in someone that is not only NOT his husband, but someone his husband has identified as an issue. I won't pretend that omegaverses aren't usually angsty and convoluted but the plot comes off as unnecessary. Let's not forget that ML learned his lesson the first time and is currently showering his partner with love and words of affirmation while the MC is being bullheaded. Once again, not discounting his possible feelings of fear and wanting to protect the happiness of ML.....his logic is just severely flawed. I don't dislike anyone but glasses dude. I'm sure he's just plot device atm but his motives for acting that way are ungrounded at best. Like dude, I'm sure from your POV the ML is underserving of the MC but you have NOT been in their life for the past X amount of years. You don't get to just show up in someone's marriage and draw your own conclusions from it, and then act on said conclusions. Aside from the MC trying to go through his current condition alone out of fear of ruining his marriage/ML happiness, everything they've shown you is that they are wildly happy together but you can't seem to let "past them" go. I'm sure it's something like he turned into an Alpha and now has the new found courage to pursue his first love that he swears he can do better by........But it's just arrogance. Not love.

It's a turn off when a character thinks that just because they're attractive and highly intelligent that they can do what they want and morality is above them.
He had absolutely zero character development. The uke didn't even tell him about the shitty was he was treated!
I mean for the entire story, all the seme did was look down on the uke. I'm not even sure if he liked him or he fetishized him to the point where he confused those feelings as like/love.
They have no practical experience being in a non-sexually charged space other than the office, how the hell are they supposed to be in a relationship? He looks down on him in the office, he consistently sexually harasses him at his secondary place of employment, hotels, the seme's place is out of the question, and he even forced his way into, assaulted, blackmailed, coerced, and had sex with him at the uke's only place of refuge (his house).
The seme was unlikable and an absolute dumpster fire partner. Hot and smart or not, he did not treat the uke well at all.

Picture this situation but IRL and with a woman. Guy like woman, woman likes someone else, guy thinks the person she likes is an asshole and insists that they are a better choice for her to date. Guy CONTINUES to pursue woman after being told clearly that they are not romantically attracted to him and loves SOMEONE ELSE. Guy eventually gets woman to RELUCTANTLY agree to a physically relationship because the guy's main motivation is that "they can't hold back their desires for her anymore" even if the woman doesn't love him back, practically begging at this point and letting it be known that they'll take whatever the woman can give him, even if it's only physical.

Well said!!! I actually love the seme and feel for him but he's not entitled to have his feelings returned. The uke has been very straightforward with what the situation is like and the seme was the one who said it was okay to use him as a replacement. Feelings are complicated. Of course the uke's not gonna switch over directly when he still has feelings for the red head.
At least the seme here is a good person, very pushy, but still a good person. The comment sections on stories like "Lover Boy" still piss me off, where the seme turns really resentful and toxic and wants to hurt and humiliate the uke, but people are still hating on the uke for "hurting" and "rejecting" the seme.
And the reverse is also true I guess.
