Loooove this manga. Contrary to what some commenters have said I think Yu is actually a delightful compromise between the naive airhead a lot of shoujo manga female main characters are and the sassy take-no-shit MCs everyone seems to want. She makes mistakes and can be vulnerable but she also has a backbone and ideals she believes in (for example when she stands up for others who are being ignored or bullied) and what’s more, she had a reason for those ideals and a conviction behind them.

Kurosaki definitely starts out like a typical aloof rich male lead in a shoujo but the slow progression of the romance makes his development much more believable than other series with similar characters and tropes. He goes from hating her, to sadistically teasing and humiliating her, to being annoyed that he cares at all, to wondering why he’s so annoyed, to thinking maaaaybe he likes her, to finally admitting he does IN SIXTY CHAPTERS. It’s taken us this long for Kurosaki to admit she’s important to him and quite frankly I think his development and the timeline it follows is realistic.

Also just gotta say the friendship between Kurosaki and Shirakawa is so sweet. The loyalty and devotion to each other is tested with their love triangle with Yu but it’s clear that while both value their own wants, they can’t just ignore the way it would impact their other half. Between Kurosaki rejecting her initial request to date and Shirakawa agonizing and lamenting about inserting himself firmly as competition, I think it’s clear how deeply they care for each other and tbh it’s refreshing to see in a love triangle where so often the side relationships splinter and eventually break.

Yeah I love this series. I think it’s top notch for a high school shoujo romance and I really don’t want it to end.

That being said, I could’ve done without the amnesia storyline.
