You have to understand that Jaehyuk already wants to marry Garam. And in a marriage your partner should be a priority above your family (wives above mothers, within reason). If Garam didn't take issue with his job, he wouldn't have quit. And if Garam wasn't so scared of Jaehyuk's parents, he wouldn't have cut contact.
What did he want Jaehyuk to do? Just let him stew? Feel resentful if he continued the job? Let him feel very conscious of his kinda out if bounds mother?

I also don't like romance in action/adventure stuff, but Jiwoo liking Jiyoung started as early as chapter 120, and even before, when they met each other first, he already found her pretty! Don't be acting like boy moms, and there's no age gap! They are age appropriate! Or are you just finding it weird since the girl is the one older?
