They use her as an example to show how the royal family no longer holds power over if people and that the church has the power to take over and make sure everything is “safe”. Which is why they target her since she is leaving now that Jeremy is getting married. So if she hadn’t left that day she would’ve been alive essentially.
Shuli is hard to manipulate and the church badly want the golden lions power, to create temlars knight they need power and no one is more powerful than the golden lion, Jeremy is much easier to manipulate than shuli so they waited for shuli to be out of the picture kill her to enranged Jeremy and then you can see the empire falling into chaos.
Any piece that has male lead that just incredibly mean at the beginning but end up being loving at the end. Can be straight or bl I don't mind. ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~
