Ok so basically there's is a legend about Ghost but people believe they're non-existent. Ghost has power they can induce a chemical reaction during their knotting that can change a beta into an omega.
But people don't know about another existence that solely live for Ghost and they're called Diamond Dust. Ghost can detect their pheromones which other can't. Without Ghost, Diamond Dust will live as a beta for their rest of the life.
Here Liu is a Ghost and Yeehyeon is a Diamond Dust. That's why when everyone guess he is whether an Alpha or a beta but Liu was fixated that he was an omega and can feel his pheromones like Yeehyeon can only feel Liu's pheromones.
