I think they had to make him 18 because the ML is a brat. Pretty sure he was shit talking her to keep the other guys away from her. Also, he lashes out at her when his feelings are hurt instead of correcting her assumptions/misunderstandings. Meanwhile, the FL is too stupid or insecure to handle him properly and put him in his place. I wish she was cooler. I'm tired of these doormat FLs.
There is something about these two that bothers me. Don't get me wrong, I really like both of these characters. But the story seems to be pushing them together when Chaeyul isn't really reading 'straight' to me. Her story lines up with being a late-in-life lesbian. She could also be on the ace spectrum, but her Christian background and her straight up disgust at her boyfriends desiring her IS NOT normal for most straight women. (It can be normal for straight women who have been traumatized sexually or religiously, but we’ve had literally no indication of that being the case.) She’s just coming off as not attracted to men.
The story wants us to believe that she just hasn’t found the “right” man. But when Daesong confesses to her and she does ask him to date, it’s because everyone else TOLD her he was a good match. The reality is she was angry at him for jeopardizing their friendship. Could you imagine if they did end up together and she found out on her wedding day that even a man she cares about isn’t someone she desires? What a time to realize you’re not interested in men.
I don’t think the author is doing it intentionally, but in real life these two wouldn’t have a happy ending. I want both of these characters to be happy, but I’m not sure what the author is planning. I think it’s too lighthearted a story for there to be some dramatic reveal that she’s gay and that she’s been using religious abstinence to cover it up.
So, the mom is disgusting. That said, I'm pretty sure she might be secretly trying to set these two up. I might be wildly off base, but I'm thinking there is going to be a "terminally ill" story line with the mom. The way she's trying to pressure her daughter into taking more responsibility in the company, the insistence that they're all a family, and the one line about how she enjoys reuniting objects with their rightful owners... Yeah, I'm sure the mom knows what's happening under her own roof. She might even have picked him because she knows he's her daughter's type.

The ML is really cute but the FL is just…so unlikeable.
