The author decided to sabotage the best couple in this story just so she could end up with the damn prince. I'm not reading this anymore because this male protagonist is incredibly annoying and has no charisma whatsoever. I couldn't care less about him.
For the first time, someone is worried about an unexpected pregnancy. I never thought seeing ML being reprimanded for not using contraception would be so satisfying.

Things got out of control, with the author suffering all kinds of harassment and heated discussions on social media involving readers from various countries.
This situation draws attention to something that has become common in the community for some time: the inability to deal with frustration.
When we invest time and money in a book, it's inevitable to create some expectations, but the direction of the story and the characters is in the author's hands, so disappointments can happen. Criticism and expressions of dissatisfaction are valid, and even necessary, but there is a limit between recognizing that something was not to your liking and disqualifying someone's work.
Attachment to certain narratives and characters is understandable, since within certain contexts, fiction can generate identification, comfort, and catharsis, but loving a character doesn't make them real, unlike the person who created them, who can truly suffer from malicious comments and attitudes. Would it really be valid to harm a REAL person to defend your point of view about a FICTIONAL character?
In reality, the ending and Ian's dialogues with Jo explain quite a bit why the author chose that "ending." But the lack of textual interpretation from most people here is worrying or you live in world of oz. No ending would be satisfactory for you guys anyway, at least it makes sense. And English isn't even my first language.

I was crying for this couple when she dreamed of him, like their love look so true and for now in the flashback he is even more amazing. Give this man to me i don't want complicated man for me
I don't want to impose my opinion, so I'll just state a fact here for many people to reflect on, because I read some comments asking to make them happy or to get them together so we'll have "a happy ending."
Happiness isn't about them being together or separated, or one of them dying, or the other being imprisoned, or, I don't know, taking the throne and changing everything, and that being "the happy ending." Being happy is ambiguous, happiness is ambiguous, what is happy for me isn't happiness for you, and their happiness at the moment doesn't exist, it's practically nonexistent, because what one wants hurts the other. So I honestly don't know what their happy ending will be, but I hope it's a cohesive ending, which is what I think is fair for this story and even for all of us as readers.
Forgive the typo. English is not my first linguagem.
