Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Rea decided to live on her own after that but was still attached to everybody. Furuya probably got married to Ranko and had kids and granbabies but then he died first. So Ranko's telling stories about Rea to her grandchildren.
Well, that's just my interpretation based on that last chapter. Personally, I'd have been okay if that chapter didn't exist and it ended with just, Yay, (almost) everyone's alive! But, well, if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
You know right from the start it was a romeo juliet feel. i have to say i feel like that is also the impression i had. after a year in hospital, but he got his confession answered, just leaves you to think if they went to visit her or if she kept her distance. being 15 and the situation, you could tell Ranko knew his love would never be anything she knew he just would need time. she was a mature character yeah she broke a couple of times but i dont blame her. it was hard to read knowing the ending at the start, but had some twist. but it would have been nice for the last chapter or extra having furuya and ranko married visiting rea as a last scene, and a nice feeling of furuya and rankos timeline a bit at the start. just that thanks for the meal as a last line to the main story was sad. whole thing had a sad vibe, the extra just showed rea lived over 100yrs like he wanted but its shown so lonely.
That was cute but I want more! (〜￣△￣)〜 I thought their going to kiss in the student council room or in the hospital. （/TДT)/
