it’s not bait when they’re pretty much explicitly confirmed as queer. the entire story is a metaphor for queerness, accepting yourself, found family, etc. its a blatant representation of an insecure gay man (yamadera, who has accepted himself as a “monster”) in a complicated relationship with a self-hating bisexual man who wishes he could be straight, and not a “monster.” yamadera’s insecurity is the focus of the most recent update, it’s implied they kiss in this chapter, he bit all over minoru’s chest, etc. just because they don’t have sex on screen doesn’t mean it isn’t gay.

I dont think on screen sex is the only indicator of if a story is gay. Shounen Ai exists and is valid. But those stories still have the characters explicitly in a relationship i.e. they are boyfriends. This one DOESNT. THEY ARE NOT IN A RELATIONSHIP.
