before anyone cries about how he’s only 14, he just saw his friends be killed right before his eyes, and he was framed for a murder he didn’t commit, he had to learn how to survive, blah blah blah… idgaf. shiro has experienced far worse, and she didn’t cry as much as he did. not only did his weak ass punch my bby in her face, he sucks as a protagonist.
i still don’t understand what makes him so special. when you have characters like shiro, senji, minatsuki, nagi, etc. who can actually fight, have amazing backstories, and can actually pull in an audience by showing TRUE character development… it makes you wonder why ganta even exists.
shiro should’ve been the protagonist. she had more to lose, and she can actually fight. if she didn’t save ganta’s ass, he wouldn’t be here.
anyway, this story sucked, the art is mid, and it dragged out for way too long. the ending gives, “we don’t know how to end it, so just enjoy this weird relationship between ganta and shiro.” the fight scenes have NOTHING. if you compare it to the manga that was out during the time this manga was published, you could definitely see what i mean. this book should’ve been 30 chapters.
also, the conflict fizzled out by the end of the book. wdym you’re looking for the wretched egg (horrible name btw), and you suddenly give up wanting to kill them? what was the point of the story then???
2.5 stars out of 5 (the 0.5 is for my bby shiro. she deserves the world).

Ending could have been a little bit better but overall this was a great read. Sucks the anime didn’t get a 2nd season, but they clearly made edits that they shouldn’t have.
