It's been years since tge mangaka released a new volume and it's still on hiatus. I am slowly loosing faith that I'll ever get to see the end of it. ā„ļ¹ā„
The inaccuracy. I know this is based off of one of Louisa May Alcott's books, but it's like the main protagonist in each manga I read has to be dumb and obviously oblivious (Like how she openly screams about how she was bribed 1500 pounds. Only an idiot who time-traveled from the future would bring up something like that). Another one of my problems is how all of her siblings, even the youngest is more refined than she is. But of course, it's because *drum roll* She's the main protagonist. Even if she is acting out of place in a Victorian Era setting she obviously wouldn't be put in an asylum for her actions in real life right? She would actually. But here's my biggest problem:
The author just removed Elizabeth's actual talents from the manga. In Alcott's books she was actually a fine piano player, on top of this in the books, she was the exact opposite of the character she portrays in the manga. She had the least amount of flaws, and she was kind and pure. Sure, she should have flaws to balance out her character but too many flaws like in the manga is not good. Like at all. Also... The Elizabeth in the books died from an illness after her immune system was destroyed from Scarlet Fever. I'm not ranting that the Lizzy here in the manga should die, this is just a little fact. I don't want the manga character to die.
That doesn't mean I hate Elizabeth. Is she different? Yes. Is the character annoying? Kind of. But, she does go through development, I'll give it that. But it seems to me that she was the only character who was changed just because she was the main protagonist. Most of the events (Like how Amy burned Jo's script and fell through ice but was saved) was in the books. Their personalities were the same too. But because Lizzy is the main character in the manga, only she changed.
It's been such a long time since I've last read that manga, and even longer regarding the novel. But your comment strikes me as something that I've been feeling as well. To be truthful I also enjoy a deviation because mangas do not necessarily adapt the whole concept of the real literature work. Also in mangas the female lead often have a strangely strong idiotic gene which strikes at common sense. This happens too often for comfort. I get the feeling that if the manga continued, we would have seen Elizabeth's gradual metamorphosis as well as her shining in other areas. This would make up for her lack of refineries and talents. The artwork makes up for the failure to follow the real story I think.

I read that a long time ago, and the 4 Daughters of doctor March even wayyyy before, but appart from the name of the protagonist and some parts of the setting it has very little in common. Or so i felt, i would hardly compare both
