Beautiful illustrated story with a nostalgic, heavy feeling to it. It's slow paced, what helps build up the atmosphere of that time. Given the period with it's restrictive social norms, Laurents behavior is realistic and Arthur's act of resigning of his land and title to go after the male servant of another manor is quite a scandal. Carel, as the master of that manson can be seen as the protector of those two, as he allows them to be together under his roof far from peering eyes. I enjoyed the story. Although I do understand the little frustration one can get as a reader, for the desicions which are made, as lots of us are used to the quick paced progress and 'i don't care what others think, let's just be together'-attitude in most other BL/yaoi. But then again, the historic setting has to be taken into consideration.
You know, when Carel was putting Laurent to bed. I thought Laurent was going to get r@ped. But damn Carel was actually a good ass person. Good for you Carol (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
laurent literally suppressed his feelings for arthur bc if word had gotten out about 2 men enjoying each other's company, let alone the fact that they had major class divisions, they would've literally died lol. educate yourself on the decade and century before saying laurent was selfish. he was not. he was careful
No idont think Laurent being a selfish or dumb I think it the opposite because he didn't had such creed to be with a person he love and the person he love was his master and coming from arich family so for the seek of his lover he just keep it quite to keep the futuer of aruther ithink he was very THOUGHfull of the situation he was in and always think of aruther futuer than his own ilove his personality and ilove how aruther just understand that and in the end he did it
I do think Laurent was being selfish...but I feel like that was the whole point. He had been restraint and living quietly beside the man he loved (for logical reasons ie: imbedded societal expectations) while Arthur had acted selfishly the whole time (saying he loves him occasionally but then dissing his flowers and raping him once) So when Carel specifically told Arthur that he was willing to sacrifice things for Laurent and that Arthur looked like he wasn't, it meant that it was Arthur's turn to let Laurent be selfish. Thus creating a balanced relationship. but whatever as long as it gives me the happy ending lmao
Sorry, 3 star for the drawing style but minus 2 for the uke. Drag your lover to the same level of you instead of TRYING to sacrifice is the worst uke that I've always looked down on/ despised. I've fed up with this indecisive/ insecurity shjt and position trope that is using as an excuse for your asshole/ trashy characters. (︶︿︶)=凸 Please don't tell me I have to have enough knowledge about this era (which I certainly do) to ACTUALLY ENJOY the story Σ( ̄□ ̄||) It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍ I'd rather seme and uke never met each other so that the uke can live whatever life he wants (as a commoner (╬ ̄皿 ̄)凸)
they could’ve died for being together think about that era, the uke was being very kind of the sit! If servant & master let alone men got together back in that day & age it wouldn’t have ended pretty.

Still wanted more complex chapters that showed each of the charavters' development, especially for Arthur. Ugh, Carel deserved better tho
man's literally gave up his name, estate, title, his life for his lover
Should have ben Carel
