Ya , I was kinda uncomfortable during the "gender checking" scene. The lawyer said "--That's if you're a woman." in that scene , and I must disagree with him. Don't violently act with/assault males either. Also ,why tf is it still okay to forcefully undress a man , but it's an unforgiveable act if it's done to a woman ? My answer is that it's never okay. Never forcefully undress anyone, be it man or woman ffs.
I actually like that Mizuki really is acting like a girl who was suddenly told he was a guy. He didn't thought of doing 'girl things' as a chore or faking it, because he was raised as a girl and really thought he was a girl for most of his life. It was natural for him and in fact he had to get used to being a boy, like getting comfortable with touching male as with the first chapter, is what makes his characterization so nice. He wasn't just a boy who was dressed up as a girl for most of his life, but he was really raised as a girl and only recently had to be used to being a boy
We often assume it is the mangaka who decides how and when a story ends, but readers, editors and publishers all have their say in things too. So, I will not berate the mangaka here.
The story was both unique and interesting and would have made a fantastic series. Unfortunately, the ending was undoubtedly rushed. The art was beautiful and the characters were well developed. Though a longer series would have developed them even further in my opinion. The mangaka did a great job at the start with plot and character development. The pace seems slow, but it never left me feeling like I didn't want to turn the page to see how things played out. Honestly, it felt like this story was paced for a much longer series that just never panned out. I hate seeing stories like this that have so much further to go yet end so hurriedly. Regardless of the rushed ending, the mangaka did a fantastic job with the rest of the story.
Completely agree with you. The plot had lots of potential and enough characters to make a lovely developed story... Whatever happened the author didn't fully use the stories key points very well.
Like, crossdressing. Something fun and great to use in a story, and great for drama. Or even hiding the child, BL love plot, hiding gender, pretending to be two people, okay backstory, good character designs. Everything with the plot and story was great. Just too rushed and not flushed out very well.
