let me start it off by saying i’m really happy with the way the mangaka portrayed the rape, and how it actually was a big deal to the character.
it may be my personal bias, but it was upsetting that he had to get raped in order to not want to have sex, he could just have been asexual, and depending on his feelings he may or may not have been able to have sex. i understand that asexuality is not really something on everyone’s minds, i just think it’s a shame that it’s kind of an unwritten rule that you need some sort of trauma in order to not want to have sex. a more wholesome way would be that he is asexual, but still wants to please his partner in some way, and they work together to find a solution that is comfortable for the both of them.
am i reading too much into this? probably, but i just wanted to share my feelings regarding it. this mangaka is my favorite, in no way am i having any hard feelings towards her, i mean this as a general thing.
thoroughly enjoyed all of these stories KYA i also REALLY LOVE HOW THE AUTHOR TOOK TIME AND MADE HIM GETTING RAPED A BIG DEAL. we all know how yaoi are, the person gets raped and it’s dismissed so fuckin easily. this one actually went into his trauma and such and how he SLOWLY overcame it with the person he loves and OMLL I LVOE THAT SO MUCH PLS RECCOMEND ME SOME YAOIS WHERE THEY DONT EASILY DISMISS THE RAPE AND IT ACTUALLY AFFECTS THE CHARACTER ETC

the pretty guy from the 2nd story was meh,,, didnt rly like how he just went "get tf outta my place bc i cant handle my own shit u dumbass i love you" like chile ok sweetie yall just been buddies for roughly a week.... anyway! i loved sensei's works as always!!!

The two characters kissing, laying together in bed, but never the actual act of sex. This is what separates shounen ai from yaoi. An easy way to look at it is: Shounen ai is like a rated R movie and Yaoi is a triple X rated porn. Because that is what yaoi is. Porn. Gay porn. Written for women. This is why, when readers complain about rape in yaoi, I recommend that they read shounen ai. It takes a certain amount of mental and emotional maturity - and even a little mental derangement - to appreciate XXX porn. Do you watch a lot of XXX porn or read a lot of hentai? If not, then yaoi is going to seem very strange and extreme to you. I don't recommend shounen ai to be mean. I do it with sincere concern because I know and understand what yaoi is and the purpose it is meant to serve. What is the purpose of XXX porn? It's not to tell a sweet love story, is it? No. It is meant to arouse with explicit scenes depicting fetishes of all kinds. Right? If you enter a XXX porn site, do you complain that there is porn being shown there? No. Because you know it is a porn site. So, you either don't go to that site or you know what you are going to see if you do. But it isn't like that with manga. Especially free manga. That is why we categorize the manga and have tags that tell us what to expect. In the case of manga, if you don't like porn, don't read hentai... or yaoi.
