Or is it the other way around? they don't make mangas like this anymore. Now, it's all about the smut and the sexy police trope. For new readers, the art style will take getting used to but once you delve in the story, you will understand why this is a classic. #plot-heavy: Instead of a trope-y and/or kinky police plot or just dropping a gay+police together for some sexy time, we have a manga with a well-developed and properly researched (though not super accurate but the very japanese mangaka tried) story about two policemen who ended up together and just happened to be men. I like how the story is pieced like that. In every arc, we get to see their lives and how the kids grow and as case after case were properly closed, we get to see how their feelings grew. Dee, the guy who has chased his partner for years is as pitiful as he is amusing. I like how he's always creative in his rants. He kept the whole manga into a lighthearted note and I appreciate that despite the dangers and deaths surrounding them, Fake still maintained it's comedic note all throughout. That's the biggest difference it had to the heavy drama New York, New york. #adoption: Ryo took in 10-yo bikky at the start of the story. #great female character: Diana served as a cast for one of a few arcs too bad I wish she's a mainstay. but she's cool, pretty and strong. i like her. #multiple couples, het and gay. @2018 Edit: WOW. I never thought I could actually mark this as finished 1 yr after. Ch. 1-3,6: One shinigami passes time w/o a care until this one odd, kind human came. His fondness for this mortal got tested when 1 day, an order came down to collect this soul. / Ch. 4: #office romance of boss and subordinate, #already lovers. Subordinate saw his lover being secretive in a storage room with a woman. Became super jealous Ch. 5: Very nice prostitute x police story. It's touching and full of love. --- @2017 my summary: Shinigamis (death god) are created mateless, a creature of solitude. However, one certain shinigami started to enjoy watching a human so when it's time to reap this human's soul, he was unable to do it. As punishment for the failed mission, he was to pretend as a human being while waiting for a chance to finally do the deed. But it never came. And his chest started to feel warm whenever they were close. In the middle of their silly antics, these two lonely guys start falling mutually inlove. Thanatos (the shinigami) kept living with the human trying to deny that he wanted to let this human live until another knock at death's door arrived for his favourite Asahi. Unable to deny the love he's feeling, he decided to exchange his own for Asahi's. Nobody really knows what will happen to Shinigami's that "disappeared" but he still did it. So Asahi lived and kept his memory. I thought he (thanatos) was just going to fade way like that but later, we see a reborn shinigami without memory, and now as a guardian angel. It's practically a restart. But at the bonus page, we see a hint that he will eventually recover his memory even bit by bit. But the feelings of love? it's already there, ready to be remembered once again. I love the bittersweet ending.

I intend to pass but seeing how it's a collab bet 2 mangakas I like I got suuper curious. Two policemen were #lovers for 3 years. Backstory revealed that the chief got discovered as gay by his subordinate. And slept w/ him too LOL. I recommend Matoh's "Fake". As much as I like the creators, for a police drama, the story is a bit... um... but I'll keep watch & give it a chance.

⟫ Takaga Koidaro > Aiso Tsukashi. The story of Izumi, the brother in-law (of Sawaragi). For the posters asking, YES. They are connected. He & Sawaragi were not meant to be but do not worry about him. It will be his turn to be happy on the sequel. #reencounter. Izumi's somehow got reconnected to his old schoolmate and his mysterious job. #hate to love. This is the guy that "rejected" him. Now that his wife is dead and he's left with a kid, this feelings he had for this irritating guy never faded and it seems like with this fateful reencounter, he's falling all over again. In the end, the both of them are just misunderstanding idiots. It's never too late for a second chance for the two of them.
