When a Thousand Moons Rise
===SPOILERS, sorta== Warning: This comic has a super intriguing first and second chapter with a story idea that takes a backseat to run-of-the-mill slice of life, boring teen drama, and unsatisfying slow burn to the actual core story relationship advertised in Chapter 1 that made me want to read on. It's not what I expected from my first impressions of Chapter 1, and I'm honestly bored and disappointed. Reading the first two chapters, I thought this was going to be a comic about a man from a past life trying to get payback for his love being murdered over and over again through reincarnations. But then the guy seems to have magical abilities that make him out to be something not-quite-human, so I thought "Oh is he a demi-god/forest spirit/demon that the female lead's past life fell in love with?" and then in the present there is a childhood love interest I don't care about and blah blah. But by chapter 11 or 12 or so, the magical love interest is seen in a repressed memory by the female lead so it makes me think "Oh, is this a yandere 'let me love you!!!!' situation? That's neat." But all of this intriguing, dark stuff is wrapped up in such banal BS I don't care about. I don't give a damn about the Female Lead's day to day life. I guess this is a slow burn, but the characters aren't nearly interesting enough to warrant it. A 'my magical demonic lover from a previous life is a yandere that wants to murder the reincarnations of the people who killed me in my other lives' is a strong interesting concept, but it's side-lined for a bunch of slice of life BS. I just want the Horror/Romance, I just want the creepy vengeful monster man. We could've gotten to him by now if the author was a bit more succinct with how they spent their time.
