I'm feeling very torn on this one so far. On one hand, it's very cliché and includes a lot of tropes I would typically find annoying like a misunderstanding due to lack of communication. Some of the details of the uke's past are so melodramatic as to be laughable (the detail that his sick brother's tragic death occurred on Shinwoo's birthday was so over the top it actually made me laugh), and the seme's convenient single-target amnesia is a plot contrivance that baffles me and really didn't need to exist at all. Even so, I have a soft spot for Shinwoo. His relationship with Han seems fairly immature and undeveloped right now (in that I think Han is childish and immature as a character), but it's nice to see the people around him taking care of him in their own ways.

Dropping this at chapter 39 for now. There are so many rave reviews, so clearly I'm missing something, but it's just not doing it for me. The characters feel really underdeveloped, the plot is all over the place and hard to follow, the art is sloppy, and any hint of character development or backstory is immediately undermined by humor. The characters seem weirdly unaffected by the things happening around them, and that makes me feel detached from them, too. Halfway in I'd hope to feel some kind of attachment to the mc and ml, but I mostly just feel bored.

Anyone would be extremely justified in hating this webtoon. The seme is an irredeemable abusive rapist piece of shit, but at least for now, I'm glad the author isn't really pulling any punches about that. The uke seems to be falling for him, and while I'm sure that would frustrate some readers, I think it's sadly kind of realistic. Dan has been surrounded by abusers his entire life, he has no model for what a healthy sexual and romantic relationship looks like, so it doesn't surprise me that he'd mistake the relief and guilt of having his debts cleared and his grandmother taken care of as love. It's a sad story and I'm not reading it for romance. I'm sure the author will inevitably have Jaekyung realize he's falling for Dan and maybe soften up towards him, at which point I'll roll my eyes because no amount of character development could ever have me root for an endgame for these two. But at least for now, I'm sticking around for the appeal of the emotional whump.
