Sorry, but the women in my family would drop this ML like a hot potato. What's his nickname, the Velvet Steamroller?

I liked the story, but Crikey he was full of himself. She's obviously upset and scared of something, and within minutes of meeting her, he wants to know every secret she's ever had and keeps on and on pressing her. Then when he does find out (and it's nothing disgusting or shameful) he pouts like a little boy over the fact that she didn't tell him. SINCE WHEN WAS IT ANY OF HIS G*% D#$N BUSINESS??? As I've noted before, the vast majority of Harlequin MLs think that manners are for untermenschen and not for them.

Not bad, although His Lordship needed to be taken down several notches, in my opinion. He was just a trifle too judgmental for my taste. The FL, now, I liked unreservedly. Also, I would have thrown the grabby American out the window.

I would think that the ML could have cleared things up a lot earlier if he had a speck of empathy. If he did, it never showed. He looked down on her the entire time and never let her feel that he understood her position. It seemed that his entire way of making her want to be with him, was to imply or outright say that everything was her own fault because she was stupidly insecure. His "I never, ever made a mistake and it's all you" attitude is a classic manipulation and gaslighting technique. I have observed people using it for years.

I rather liked the FL, but found myself actively disliking the ML. It started when he made the remark, after not seeing her for eight years about "no clothes." Come on, Dude, that's more than a bit on the crude side, and pretty much says that you're only looking for sex. What really set me off was that he out and out betrayed her with him taking pictures of her paintings and showing them to his friend. What happened to "a secret between us?" That pretty much sounded like a promise of confidentiality to me. Not only was what he did a breach of trust, it puts him in the class of the "I know what's best for you" type of person. No wonder his college aged sister is sick and tired of his interference. His type of person has always driven me insane, and I try to avoid them like the plague.

I liked the story, but the ML annoyed me. He had that syndrome of "Your trauma doesn't even compare to mine." That kind of attitude makes for a self-centered person who doesn't have much in the way of empathy. He made this clear by how pushy he was about sex

I liked it....buuuut: If the ML was always in love with her, why was he always flaunting a succession of girlfriends and one night stands? A move like that has a**hole written all over it. Also, why does that never turn off the FL suffering from unrequited love? Most of the women and girls I know definitely have higher standards than that.

I liked the story, but there was no reason in the world for them to be so secretive. It only lead to misunderstandings, conflict, and deception. I also got rather annoyed at the ML for equating his "trauma" of having been used by a manipulative woman to hers of being married to a crooked psychopath who basically killed her daughter while doing his best to destroy his wife. It's kind of like comparing angst over a scratch on your Corvette to someone watching their family murdered before their eyes. He was why I couldn't give it five stars.

I rather liked the story, but the ML gave me a royal pain. He was immediately attracted to the FL, but had the juvenile boy's trick of only belittling her and criticizing her. Instead of telling her that he found her interesting or adorable, his whole communication, other than criticism, was "I want you" and "I desire you." In other words, "I'm horny and want to have sex and you're the only woman here at the moment." About as romantic as a porn flick or someone talking about grabbing them by the @&**%.

Damn, he was pushy; she says no, so he talks her down, basically battering her with words. Also, he (the sexually experienced one in the relationship) got her pregnant before his epiphany, when he still hated the idea of marriage. That definitely sets off alarm bells in my head.
