The FL really does overthink things. I know exactly where she's coming from, as I was in the same position a number of times in 22 years in the military, where one's boss changes every one to four years, average about two years. The quality bosses, I got along really well with, and we were incredibly productive. The ones concerned with their own image hated my guts from the day we met. I could tell within five minutes if the next two or so years were going to be pleasant and productive or a constant pain in the neck. Being a naive sort of individual, I still feel that productivity and teamwork are the key to success, but there will always be supervisors of the sort who view success as their own personal image and to hell with the corporate objective and mission. They are also invariably the ones who glom all the credit for their subordinate's work and immediately find scapegoats for their own shortcomings.
